MEET THE CAT TEAM
Carl Peoples
EXECUTIVE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

I grew up in Birmingham and attended UAB, where I majored in Theater. However, I credit the late James Hatcher at Town & Gown Theatre for my true education about theater as a vocation. After being cast in a few shows at Town & Gown theatre and then shows at Six Flags Over Georgia and Opryland theme parks, I moved to New York and was cast in the European Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar playing Peter and understudying Jesus. Upon returning from Europe, I moved to Los Angeles and was cast in my favorite role, Pharaoh in the Los Angeles production Of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. While in L.A. I worked with some entertainment greats as well as some great television shows as an actor, director & producer.
A few years ago, I purchased my grandparents small farm in Birmingham from my family and moved home from Los Angeles to be close to my parents. Basically, after doing theatre, TV, entertainment and concert work all over the world for over 30 years, I have come home to bring what I know and love to the place that I have always called home.
CAT received our 501(c)(3) status from the IRS in March of 2014 and hit the ground running with successful events and a solid prospectus for exciting seasons of entertainment. With entertainment ideas that are fresh and innovative, as well as the connections to make them happen, we sit poised to hit high marks and bring Birmingham and Central Alabama the type of entertainment that builds educational elements directly into the events: by incorporating the model that James Hatcher used back in my Town & Gown Theatre days, we plan to bring name talent to the Magic City to perform with Birmingham’s own stars. I am a proud member of Actors Equity Association as well as the Producers Guild of America, Academy of Television Arts & Science, the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society and Academy of Country Music.
